The romance of paper: Disney’s “paperman”

Nominated for Best Animated Short Film at this year’s Oscars, Disney’s “paperman” is a beautiful blend of traditional (hand-drawn) and computer animation. Set in 1940’s New York City, it tells the story of two young lovers brought together by a piece of paper.

So much more romantic than “sexting”, don’t you think?

Update: “paperman” won top prize at the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

  1. Completely agree! And it makes you think about what happens to lovely stories like this in a paperless world; a sheet of poetry landing next to you sounds like the perfect beginning to a beautiful romance, but nobody’s iPad will ever go drifting out into the world on a windy day.

  2. Hi Annie,

I saw this little movie and just loved it. I forwarded it to Randy and the kids. I just happened to be there when the boys and Randy watched, and I couldn’t help watching again and again too.

    Very sweet!
