“Bookstores are lonely forts, spilling light onto the sidewalk. They civilize their neighborhoods.” John Updike
Last week, we got yet another blast of cold and snow. I felt like jumping on a plane to Paris or anywhere else but here. That not being an option, I took refuge in Old Ottawa South at Black Squirrel Books for ginger cookies, coffee and a browse through the stacks.
Here is a peek inside my favourite local bookstore…
I left with a stack of books, a bag of cookies and a brain buzzing with ideas…and enough energy to brave the cold. For a few more days anyway…
What a lovely bookshop! Thanks for sharing!
