A few moments of bliss with Maurice Sendak

Maurice Sendak, you left us and we love you more.

I’m paraphrasing Sendak there – as quoted in a September 2011 interview with Terri Gross on National Public Radio. It turned out to be his last chat with her, as he died in May 2012.

After hearing the interview, illustrator Christoph Niemann was moved to create this lovely video, in which Sendak speaks with heartbreaking honesty about life and death:

“Live your life. Live your life. Live your life.”
